During my stay, I found the hotel to be really clean and tidy, and its excellent proximity to Holme Fen National Nature Reserve made it easy for me to enjoy peaceful walks surrounded by nature, while St Peter's Church was only a short stroll away, allowing me to immerse myself in local history and architecture.

The Classic Twin Room had a surprising amount of natural light pouring in, making it feel spacious. Coupled with a sturdy fan that was added to combat the heat, it showcased an intention to keep guests comfortable despite the climate.

The temperature control in the room was non-existent, with the heating blaring like it was trying to cook something over a campfire, making for an uncomfortable night. Light seeped in around the door’s edges, which might bother light sleepers, though I did manage to block out most of it. There were no water provisions, and the absence of a fridge could pose a challenge in the summer months, particularly if you’re reliant on chilled items. The desk lamp installation awkwardly occupied both outlets, restricting gadget use. The bar prices felt a tad steep compared to portion sizes at dinner, leading to a couple of disappointed remarks from other diners.
